Make your princess happy
The other day a friend of mine asked me what she could do to give her daughter the room she wanted for Christmas without going bankrupt. My friend works in retail and makes nothing so I understood what she meant.
I took a look at the picture and it was a princess bedroom. Complete with jewels and a crown bed. This is an easy theme and very inexpensive to do. You may splurge on a few things, like the comforter and pillows. but other then that most items in a princess bedroom can be made by hand. Use old costume jewelry to make jeweled picture frames and lampshades. Paint is always your best friend when you want to do a redesign with little cash. Use paint to paint a castle on the wall and trees around her bed. There are many stencils you can buy if your not very artistic.
Remember though not every girl likes pink. Have her pick the colors she wants everything to be. She may like purple, yellow or even blue. You could also have her pick a story to use as a theme in her room, like Cinderella or Sleeping Beauty. Even Tinkerbell is a huge deal right now and you could use her and Neverland as inspiration.
The one thing you must remember about children’s rooms is that they need to be designed so that they can change, don’t add a built in castle bed and desk unless you want to do the work removing it. The will be teenagers eventually and trust me, they won’t want a room that looks like a 4 year old lives there.
