Posted By: Holly  //  Category: Design for kids, Wall art, fun decor

I came across this very cool site today called Wall Glamour and they have very cool products for your walls. They refer to them as wall stickers, but I think wall tattoo is catchier. They have many different designs, a few have shown in this post and many of them you can choose your own colors. They also tell you on the website how to apply them and everything.

Give Your Dorm Style And Organization

Posted By: Holly  //  Category: Design for kids, fun decor

It’s back to school time and that means that the collage kids are getting all of their dorm things and are almost ready to go back. I have a great tip for all of you dorm students, label anything and everything you own a great way to do this is buy using a DYMO Labelmaker. Why should you lable things? Well, because someone could take off with it, someone could have the same one and take yours or you could lose it and maybe someone who finds it can return it to you.

Now when it comes to the things in your dorm, starting the year out organized will help you stay that way, and a good looking dorm room can impress the girls, or help you to make new friends as people ask for your help getting their rooms together.

One of the first things your going to want is a file storage of some kind. This is to keep all of your papers in that you don’t need every class, like the syllabus or at least a copy of it so that way you can contact the teacher or at least know where your suppose to be in the book that week. Again make sure to label one file for each class you have.

All in all if your wondering what is in right now for dorms, colors, fun and funky and stylish. If you don’t care about the trends, make it to fit you, dorm style is all about the person. There really is not a right and wrong if you at least try.

Going Back To The Stone Age?

Posted By: Holly  //  Category: Design for kids, Furniture, fun decor

Today I decided to spend some time stumbling and I came across a site with this picture:

Is this the new wave of the future are we really going to end up going this “green”? I love the idea, but maybe not inside, outside this would be awesome. Inside it may make for a uncomfortable nights sleep, but since these rocks or living stones are actually made from 100% virgin wool. That means they are soft and ready for anyone to sit and relax on. I would recommend though that you keep the real ones outside and the wool ones inside or you can buy them for inside or outside, they sell both.

If you want design ideas for this check out these few tips and feel free to leave a comment with your own.

Children’s rooms

Play rooms

Teen bed room (perfect if they like rock climbing)

clubs or play type areas

Give your infant some style

Posted By: Holly  //  Category: Design for kids

Are you a modern parent looking for some great style for your baby. Check out this new look from cabana baby cribDucduc. It’s modern, it’s different and you may just be the envy of everyone you know. Pictured to the right is the cabana baby crib. What baby would not love that. It also works well for a boy or girl so if you haven’t had the baby yet and don’t know the sex, you could get this and still be okay.

Another great piece from Ducduc is the eddy rocker. This piece looks much more comfortable then the rocker my mother used. It’s padded and very comfy looking. I think I would worry more about me falling asleep then the baby.

Ducduc also offers bedding and all the fun extra stuff for your baby too. The company also has won the best of the year merit award from Interior design Magazine. One of the top industry magazines.

Design and charity

Posted By: Holly  //  Category: Design for kids, stuff

Interior design is not all about the money, sometimes it’s about helping people who don’t have the money to get the job done or passably don’t’ even have a home. One of my classmates has taken on the task of finding a bus for sale so that she can redesign the inside for a church group. Not only does it get her some exposure and a great project for her portfolio but she’s helping people who need it. This church as over 300 youth members and they really need a good bus to travel to outings in. They also have a youth choir with 150 members. She’s got a great design in mind now all she needs is for them to get a bus.

Something Old, Something New

Posted By: Holly  //  Category: Design for kids, Home Additions, Home improvement, Pictures and Artwork

My sister has talked about putting in a game room when she moves so that her kids can have their friends over and she doesn’t have to worry about what they are doing. This is a huge trend right now with concerned parents and of course a big trend in the design industry as well.

1966 Middle South New Orleans Ad w/ Pete FountainDecorating this type of room can be hard. You want it kid friendly, but you also want it to be fun for the adults and teens too. That is where good design comes into play. One great accessory for this type of room are posters and pictures that reflect activities that may either go on in the room, or just fun images that spark enjoyment. I like using Vintage Paper Ads because they have a classic but fun look to them that can liven1986 M&M Candy Ad w/ Characters at a Pool! up any room.

There are many sites where you can get ad’s like this, but one of the easiest to use is vintagepaperads.com. Use of classic ads like the one on the left is a great way to show children the history of some of their favorite products. Of course there are even more products to choose from at this site, some of the categories include, Alcohol / Beer, Food / Restaurant and Travel / Tourism. All great picks for a well designed game or entertainment room.

What else you add into that room all depends on your children and your likes and dislikes. Make the room fun for everyone and you won’t have to worry about what your kids are doing. You will know exactly where they are and who they are with since they will be right in your own home.
