Bedroom design
Modern design is all about simple clean lines and relaxing decor. Yes it can also have a ton of color and pop out at you, but when it comes to a bedroom you want it relaxing right? When looking for bedroom decor you want to keep it simple if your going for the modern look. Decide if your going to use wood or metal in your room and then go from there.
You then need to decide what kind of bed you would like to have. Do you want a nice big tall bed that stands out and makes a statement. Maybe one you have to have stairs to get into, or do you want one that is lower to the ground so you can just fall into it.
After you pick out the bed you have another choice to make, do you want the frame of the bed to stand out from the bedding you choose or do you want them to bend together to make one seamless looking piece. My bed for example is a cherry wood bed that is set high and has a high headboard. I choose a green and purple sateen comforter for it so that the bed would pop out from the comforter as I bought the bed because of it’s style.
The last thing you have to choose is the accessories for your bed, I’m talking about night stands dressers and vanities. Do you need all of these or do you have a closet with built in storage for non hanging items? No matter what style you choose to go with in your bedroom you have to remember, one there are many choices to make, two you should buy everything together so that they match, unless your going for the eclectic look and three buy things you like and are comfortable with, not what the girl down the street has or the guy on TV has. Your room needs to reflect you.

When people think of bunk beds they usually think of children’s rooms or maybe a pre teen room. Most
of the time that is where we see bunk beds, but I have found there is a trend now where people are buying small vacation homes with only one room and putting in bunk beds to hold them and their children.
If your in the market for either a children’s bunk bed or one for a vacation home you may want to check out bunk-beds-loft-beds.com, they have a great selection of bunk beds, I have 2 pictured on this post and they have amazing customer service, just check out their testimonial area there is some great
feedback. They also provide more then enough information on their products and offer white glove service in case you don’t want to put it together and clean it up yourself.
Bunk beds are a great way to save space and allow for extra storage if you get the right kind of bed. The best part is most children love a bunk bed. I’m not sure why but they do. Even I did as a child.

I wake up sometimes and feel like I just slept on a brick, usually it’s when I am at my sisters house and sleep on her 12 year old mattress she has in the guest room. I keep telling her she needs to buy a new mattress but she doesn’t see why.
When your mattress feels good and looks good, that makes you enjoy your home and life more. You get better sleep and are able to wake up easier. I know that sounds silly as a comfortable mattress makes me want to sleep more, but you tend to wake up ready for the world. There are many types of mattresses available. There are traditional mattresses, pillow top mattresses and the new foam mattress. I personally have a pillow top mattress as I tried the foam and I really didn’t like it. I do know many people who have the foam and love it so I still recommend it to people.
When you are looking for a mattress try it out for a while, sit on it, lay on it and roll around on it for at least 30 minuets before you buy. This makes sure that the fit is right for you, you don’t want to buy a mattress that when you get home you hate right?

Many people when designing their home or even just redecorating their home seem to concentrate mostly on the living and dinning area. These areas are the kitchen, the dinning room and the living or family room. What many forget about is the bathroom, bedroom and other areas of the home. The reason is simple, most people don’t see those areas of your home or at least they don’t spend much time in there.
If your looking to make a good first impression on new neighbors or are trying to sell you home, you really do want to take a second look at these areas. You want to get some nice bedroom accessories including stylish bed linen. You want the bedrooms to feel relaxing and inviting this shows that you are a person that is more go with the flow then everything has to be perfect. Yes you would think having a good looking bedroom would do the opposite, but it doesn’t.
Bathroom accessories are also a must when selling or showing off your home. You want a wow factor when someone walks into your bathroom. Nice well designed and decorated bathrooms show class and wealth. This is just the way some people think, if you have the money to spend to make your bath look good then you are pretty well off. Yes the same goes for a kitchen too.

Everyone has different taste when it come to a mattress but their are some tips to help you decide which one is right for you.
Do some research. That is what the Internet is for right? To give you information on products and services. Check out the manufactures website to find information on mattresses your interested in
Talk to your doctor. If you have any type of health condition consult your doctor. They may be able to tell you what types of mattresses to stay away from.
Check your size. If both you and your spouse are small you don’t need a pillow top mattress. If you want one that is your choice. If your bigger the extra padding may be helpful to you.
Use the mattress before buying. No I’m not saying you should sleep on it, unless they offer that type of trial, but you should test it out for about 15-20 minutes before you decide to buy.
Don’t buy whats in style, just because it is. If all of your friends buy the Tempurpedic mattress and you check it out and hate it, don’t buy it.

Design for kids
The other day a friend of mine asked me what she could do to give her daughter the room she wanted for Christmas without going bankrupt. My friend works in retail and makes nothing so I understood what she meant.
I took a look at the picture and it was a princess bedroom. Complete with jewels and a crown bed. This is an easy theme and very inexpensive to do. You may splurge on a few things, like the comforter and pillows. but other then that most items in a princess bedroom can be made by hand. Use old costume jewelry to make jeweled picture frames and lampshades. Paint is always your best friend when you want to do a redesign with little cash. Use paint to paint a castle on the wall and trees around her bed. There are many stencils you can buy if your not very artistic.
Remember though not every girl likes pink. Have her pick the colors she wants everything to be. She may like purple, yellow or even blue. You could also have her pick a story to use as a theme in her room, like Cinderella or Sleeping Beauty. Even Tinkerbell is a huge deal right now and you could use her and Neverland as inspiration.
The one thing you must remember about children’s rooms is that they need to be designed so that they can change, don’t add a built in castle bed and desk unless you want to do the work removing it. The will be teenagers eventually and trust me, they won’t want a room that looks like a 4 year old lives there.
